time to make some strawberry jam with the local berries! yum!

baby turned six today! i can’t quite believe it! where has the time gone. i can still remember so vividly the day he was born.

his birth was a planned c-section so we knew that june 25th was the day. one thing i remember the most was the doctor telling me that i couldn’t eat anything. that was so hard! the c-section wasn’t scheduled until 3pm so i made myself stay up in our bedroom all day because i knew that if i saw food, i would have to have it! that’s a long time for a pregnant lady to go without any food! at 1:30pm, i waddled my way downstairs (did i mention that i was H.U.G.E.?) and derek and i headed for the hospital. we got all checked in and were waiting patiently and then they told us that we were going to have to wait a bit because the doctor had to perform an emergency c-section. i was STARVING by this time.

it wasn’t long before they took me to the operating room and at 4:11pm, tyler david marshall was born. he weighed in at 9lbs 15oz! yes, he was a BIG boy! he was such a happy and contented baby. his big sister was so proud too! she was so gentle with him.

and now he’s six! striving so hard for independence and gaining a little ground everyday. he’s pure sweetness, caring, soft-hearted, rugged, determined, clever and mischievous all rolled up into one little boy package. i  want him to stay little for a little while longer.

derek went salmon fishing today with his buddy scott. now, i have to tell you that these guys haven’t had much luck in the last couple of years in the fishing department. usually when they make plans to go out, the weather turns bad on them or they go out and come back with nothing.

well, not today. the weather was perfect for fishing and derek caught a 33.5 pound spring salmon! the biggest one he’s ever caught. and let me tell you, it is yummy! (we had some of it for dinner tonight)
