…and baby makes 3!

September 30, 2007

shonna and chris, my sil (derek’s sister) and her dh, are expecting their first baby in mid november. i had the pleasure of doing some maternity pictures for them last weekend. shonna was so great to work with! she was so comfortable and easy going. she was willing to try anything!  it made my job super easy! i’ve only done one other maternity session so i was a little stumped on what to do at times. but we got some pretty great shots i think!

thanks to both of you for being my ‘models’. it was an honour to be able to capture these precious memories for you both. i hope you enjoy them.

how can one small person, whom i love more than words could ever express, cause me so much anguish and stress?

jenny: No. No, I can't believe it. I refuse to believe it. LOL So sorry you're having some challenging times. Maybe if you come to Wisconsin I can talk some sense into that boy. :D

it’s all about the lighting

September 21, 2007

tomorrow i am doing some maternity pictures for derek’s sister and her husband. she requested to have them done using a black backgroud so it was time to pull out my lighting setup and practice a little. it’s been awhile since i’ve used them.

lucky for me, my kids happily agreed to model for me. what would i ever do with out them?

so, tyler went first. here’s what he gave me.

and then it was emily’s turn. she needs no direction or prompting at all. this girl knows how to work the camera! i’m so lucky! my little muse!

i received a phone call on friday from karen t., the director of the local spca. we met karen a few weeks ago at a community fair where she was hosting the booth for the spca. emily introduced herself and explained that she was raising money for their cause. karen took all of our information and said that she would check out the etsy store.

well, she was phoning to ask me if she could put a write up about emily and her card creations in their upcoming fall newsletter and also if i could send her a photo of emily with the cards. :)

emily is extremely excited. i’ll let you all know when it comes out.

i also received an email last week from the editor of a gardening magazine that distributes to alberta, manitoba and ontario. they want to mention my home expressions – graffiti for your home in their ‘fabulous finds’ section of their magazine. how cool is that! we’ve been playing phone tag so i don’t have any details yet. i have no idea how they found me. but i am very curious to see what comes from this. i’ll keep you all posted.

Annette: You two are wonderful . . . like Mother like Daughter! You two should be very proud of yourselves! Good for you!

Sarah: Gave me goose bumps...way to go Kathy and Emily!!

Shannon G: Wow Kathy...that is so exciting! How cool for both of you! I love hearing stories like this! Can't wait to see/hear what comes of all this! Shannon

but the final results are pretty cool!
