hedbanz!

remember this game? talk about a blast from the past.

emily found it buried in the back of the games cupboard and asked if we could play. what fun! we haven’t played this game in years. i had ‘princess diana’ and ‘video tape’ on my hedbanz. took me awhile to get the video tape.

derek actually guessed his too! :)

this post also marks another special occasion! i have successfully blogged every day for one month! woot! wooot! i can now mark off one more thing on my "101 things to do in 2008" list. i love it when i make progress!

Amanda: Oh my WORD! Girl...that last photo made me break out in hysterical laughter, and my kids think they are going to have to send me to the mental ward. (Its really bad when the kids look at me like this). Superb angles, and expressions. Congrats on blogging every day. It really is an achievement! P.S. Still laughing.

jess: OH! I loved that game! Awesome shots too... love the DOF in that first one!

Nicole: Oh that is the funniest picture of the Day! I also love the one of the box, it has a great feel to it.

Chell: Great shots. Love the DOF on the first one and the lighting on the second is great.

Michelle Davies: i have not heard of that game but it sure looks fun. great DOF on that first shot and your husband is a cutie for letting you take that second pic. what fun!

Becky (finsup): I've never heard of that game, it looks like fun. What a great shot of your husband!

reflection

i love that he’s being a little comedian, pretending to fall off the wharf into the water.
he loves to be a comedian! just like his dad! :)

he told me once that he fells that he needs to be funny so that kids at school will like him. that makes me a little sad. he’s such a sweet, loving, kind and affectionate little boy. and i like him just the way he is!

one image. two  different finishes. which one do you like better?
#1

#2
Gothic_glow_2

emilyc: Wow, all three of these are phenomenal! I think if I had to choose between 2 and 3 it would be 3, it just looks colder, does that make any sense? He looks like a sweet and wonderful boy.

cari: These are all wonderful! As well as the finish on the last two....I LOVE the mood the last one conveys. AMAZING! Cari

Mom2drew: Love your reflection! Not sure which one I like best...the first one feels dream like and yet, the second feels really chilly. Hmmm, probably the second one.

jess: That first shot is so cute! What a ham! I really like both of the next two... the first one feels dreamy and the second one feels more lonely and solitary, it's amazing how different they feel just by your pp'ing!

tara pakosta: i really like them both!!! and that first one is so COOL! he's precious! tara

Becky (finsup): Love him hamming it up in the first one, and I love the reflection. Of the other two, I think I like the second one better.

Pat: Of the two, I prefer #2 with the darker tones. It seems a little more personal and inviting. I LOVE the reflections shots--what a silly! My DS was the same way when he was younger...

Margaret: Love that first image with the reflection. Such a great shot! And of the other two, I think I like the second one best. Very nice!

Amanda: My word...these are just so stunning. The first one is totally my fav. The color and the sharpness of ever the reflection is great. Your photos....just make me get this great feeling inside.

Shannon G: What a sweetheart! Love the last one....so soft and yummy.

tori: Love the reflection in the first one! I think I like the first edit on the second one.... makes it a bit more dreamy and ethereal to me.

toni: I have no favorite,, Im loving them alL~

Val: Love that reflection. i can't decide which of the others i like best. i like that he is brighter in the first one, but i like the way the water looks in the second one

brenda: Love the reflection on the water I like the second best

Chell: I love the reflection in the first one.

Julie: I love his relfection in the first one. The second two are both wonderful I like the mountains and the water in the first and the feeling of the little guy in the second. It would be fun to layer them and then erase back to have both effect in one picture I would love to see that!

Mel: that first one is great! i like the 2nd of the two best... seems more moody to me.

Tera: Great shots, that first one is adorable!! I think I like #2, although its a tough choice!!

Angela: I like the first of the last two; the browns are somehow softer and gentler, and fitting with the mood. Your little boy/ham is a cutey! I see why it makes you sad. . . but I think all people have to try on identities and see what works for them. And he's apparently got really good verbal skills!

Kristi Smith: These are absolutely incredible!!! His little face is just TOO cute!

laulley: That first shot really does look like he's jumping in. On the other 2 photos - I like the 2nd one the best. Not sure why. laulley

our date

we went to the beach. not what you’d picture a typical ‘beach day’ to be like but it was still fun. we don’t normally see ice on the lake at all but it’s been hovering around the freezing mark here for just over a week now, so there is a thin layer of ice, in spots, on the lake. it always makes me nervous when the ice is so thin. i only hope that other parents educate their children well about the dangers of thin ice.

like any typical boy, tyler tested the edge of the ice. he then decided it would be way more fun to find rocks and try to break the ice. it was also fun to watch the rocks slide across the ice and then fall into the unfrozen water on the other side.

Img_1610

Img_1639

can you tell that he really, really wants to go out there and get that rock? he didn’t! lucky for him! :) not that it was deep but he would have gotten his shoes all wet and i have taught my kids about the dangers of thin ice. he knew better!

Img_1678

Val: The first shot is absolutely gorgeous. So serene. Love the composition

Becky (finsup): I love the lines in the first photo and the closeup of him with the rock. I'm with you, thin ice has always been one of my big mommy fears. And thanks for your comments and help with my photo--I guess my eyes are smarter than my camera, but my camera is smarter than my brain. :-)

cari: These are all wonderful! Looks like fun. We used to live by the beach and we would go down just a couple of times during the summer...I miss that! Cari

Joanne: These are so great! Love the clarity and color and the composition is perfect! Awesome!

liz: Looks like you had lots of fun. He will remember this for a long time to come. I really like the first shot because it shows the whole landscape around you and he looks so small. Great job!

brenda: What a beautiful place. You can just see it in him going after that rock

Tera: Those are some great shots!! I love the frozen water!

mel: great shots, looks like he had fun! Love that first one!

toni: Very nice.. colors, compositon, everythinG!

Debbi: Beautiful view and composition in these photos!

Amanda: Really awesome. Whenever I see your site and your photos, I say, "Yes, this is the good stuff". Your photos are just consistently fantastic and beautiful.

Mom2drew: FABULOUS...I can feel the chill in the air from your shots.

my sweetie!

i think he’s been feeling a little neglected lately. and, to tell the truth, he probably has been because we’ve been so wrapped up with emily’s ankle. but that’s all behind us now. so today, after school, tyler and i had a date! i’ll post more pics from our date tomorrow. {yes, i’m outright admitting that i’ll be cheating on the potd, oh well!}

the best part was that he let me take some pictures. :)

1/1250 @ f/2.5   iso 200   85mm

p.s. i did some serious shopping today! other than a few household items that i picked up at costco, it was all about me today! i bought lots of new stuff for moi and it felt so good! :)

Donnah Ciempka: Good on you - we all need some retail therapy sometime.

Mom2drew: Oh i am so happy the diagnosis is good...what a relief! cute little dude you've got:)

cari: That is an adorable shot! Glad to hear about your dd also! cari

Margaret: Love that shot. Fabulous eyes! Glad you had some "me" time, too!

toni: Oh, I love those days... ITs like therapy! You go girl!

jess: Wow, he is a handsome little guy! I love your conversion, his skin looks so creamy and smooth.

~JustJulie~: What a good lookin' guy! Glad you got to spend some time with him, and for yourself. We need that, too. :)

Pat: Good days for both kids, and what a great mom to do a one-on-one, which I am sure he enjoyed. SO glad about the diagnosis; I am sure a huge weight has been lifted from you.

tara pakosta: he's just beautifuL! and that's great you had a date. can't wait to see MORE! your photos rock! tara

Becky (finsup): I love this shot! So sharp and the conversion is beautiful. So what did you buy?

artistatheart: Great shot - his eyes look really nice!

ljsmom33: Love the conversion! Great photo!

brenda: Nice shot of your son. I missed yesterdays post now I am glad I went back and read it. It truly brought tears to my eyes because there is nothing worse then seeing your child suffer. So happy for her. What an answere to prayer.

Tera: Too cute, hope you all had fun!! Hey we all cant take pictures everyday!! Great job!

Val: Great shot of a handsome little man. WTG on shopping! I went to the dollar store. Does that count? hehe

heather munson: Ahh tyler is so handsome....I bet your were a happy momma when he agreed to let you take that!!! Perfect pic kathy! can't wait to see the details of your guy's "date!" WTG on the shopping! You probably needed some new clothes with all that weight you have lost! :)
