May 16, 2008to my wonderful mother-in-law!
we surprised derek’s mom with a visit on mother’s day and we went out for ice cream. it was really nice to spend some time together. i took the opportunity to grab a picture of them together.

good lighting
May 16, 2008i love getting me some good backlighting! but it has taken me awhile to actually feel confident and be able to achieve what i want to with it. and you know, it’s really not as difficult as one might think. just keep your subject between you and the sun and don’t shoot directly into the sun. you’ll get these wonderful “halos” around your subject.

May 14, 2008tyler has decided that he likes to climb trees. and while that makes me just a little nervous, i realize that it’s more a “rite of passage” in a boy’s childhood and that i just need to let him do it. (thankfully, he’s not too dare devilish yet and he didn’t go up too high….. this time anyway!)
i think he’s imitating me here! lol!
