so, you really want to know what my secret assignment was, do you?

well, on friday evening while we were in vancouver, i got to do a session with one of my most favorite friends and fellow photographer, shannon, and her beautiful family! even though i had never met her family before, it was so cool because it totally felt like we were old friends! her boys are oh so cute and i love that they felt so comfortable with me.

a top secret assignment

July 25, 2008

the kids, my mom and i caught the first ferry to vancouver this morning. it’s been a few months since i’ve been here but i always enjoy coming to the mainland. especially when we get to go to ikea!! it’s always a good road trip when ikea is on the agenda! i just love that store! there are so many cool trinkets and storage ideas! {sigh}

because i don’t usually drive when we come to vancouver (derek does), i was a bit nervous about navigating our way around. i planned our route. i even printed out the directions and maps from google and you know, we still managed to get lost! but the best part was that even though we got lost, we still managed to find our way to where we needed to go! emily did a fantastic job as my navigational assistant! thanks sweetie!

oh yeah, the top secret assignment (heehee), well, i can’t really say too much about it just yet. all i can say is that it was lots of fun and it involved chocolate! here’s a hint!

{i’m editing on my laptop which is currently uncalibrated so i hope this looks ok}

i love chocolate!

shannon: hehe..... So cute!!!! Can't wait to see more results from the secret mission!!! Weeeeee....!!!!

Stacy: a chocolate massage?? chocolate facial?? ok - I had to try something absurd!! you know me! and anytime you want to come to Ikea - come visit me in NYC and we'll make it a "working" weekend. hehe lots of fun things here to take pics of and of course shopping!

Sandra: Those photos are great! I love them! Shannon you must be so pleased. Your family is truly beautiful. The photos look flawless! I love the ice cream idea.

Sandra: One more thing.........I love the B & W photo! It's my favorite!

i had a difficult time narrowing down the images to put into this slideshow! i love it when the session is just so much fun and we end up with so many great images!

enjoy!

have a great weekend!

p.s. i’ll be out of town for a couple of days and may or may not have internet access. you can still reach me on my cell phone but i probably won’t be able to return emails until early next week.

every summer, mr & mrs ‘C’ have all six of their grandchildren visit. four come from toronto and two come up from seattle. last week, i had the pleasure of photographing them again. this was our fifth session together in the last four years and i must say that these kids just get more adorable and easier to work with every year!

especially the twins this year! they were too much fun and such good sports! and, i would even go so far to say that i think they actually enjoyed having their pictures done this year! what do you think?

thank goodness grandma had some ring pops! who could resist these faces!

thanks for another great session guys! enjoy your visit!

Jeanne: Kathy, Those are great! Thanks so much. We can hardly wait to see the rest. Jeanne

Shauna: Kathy, You really made me miss my daughters! The house is so quiet without them! They look fabulous. Thank you. Shauna

Stacy: ok - that ring pop pic is now my favorite pic of all time!! (until tomorrow when you take another amazing pic!!) did you do that??? and if so, how do you still have polaroids??? i thought they were gone gone gone. anyway - amazing shots.

Leah SImmers: LOVE the polaroid image, very creative!

leslie & pete

July 20, 2008

leslie & pete got married last weekend and they wanted to capture a few images of their families all together since most of them live out of town. they didn’t want anything fancy. just a few images of each of their families together. it was my pleasure to capture a few memories for them….. and, of course, i made them jump! :)

congrats on your marriage!

jenny: oh. oh. OH! I love these, Kathy! The one of the entire family jumping in the lake is so unbelievably cool. Now THAT is a photo I would love for myself! And... I remember those kids in your other post. They're the "Crocs" cousins, aren't they? :D P.S. Can't imagine anyone NOT having fun at one of your sessions. :D

Leslie & Pete: Wow. We just checked it out - they look great! Thanks! Les
