on her way

December 28, 2008

she’s growing up, more and more every day, right before my eyes. and though i try to ignore that it’s really happening, deep inside i am savoring every minute of it. i love watching her become this beautiful young lady, inside and out, with lots of rough edges to work on. i know that we have many battles ahead of us. i think i am prepared for them…. at least that’s what i keep telling myself. for now though, we are very close.  she still wants to share all her secrets with me and i am thankful for that. and i pray that will never change.

last week i asked her if she would model for me for a few test shots. she agreed but she wasn’t too thrilled about. {but she did warm up to me and my camera eventually ;) }

these are a few of the images that we got. i love them all so much!

Dana F: Soooo beautiful. Each image is stunning alone, but together...wow. I absolutely understand the flickers of nostalgia; for how tiny they once were, for how much they have accomplished in such a short time and then savoring the rushes of absolute delight in who they are becoming... Such a wonderful place to be, isn't it?

elizabeth: yeah... what dana said! ;) seriously though, beautiful photos and gorgeous girl! xxo e

winter has arrived!

December 17, 2008

we got our first big dump of snow on saturday night. about sixteen inches of the cold white fluffy stuff blanketed our yard when we awoke on sunday morning.

derek was in his absolute glory! he was out there with his snow blower, towing a full can of gas on the toboggan behind him …. just in case! yup, that’s my man! snow blowing all our neighbour’s driveways and the road!! like i said, he was in his glory!

the kids were excited about the snow too. as soon as they ate breakfast, they donned their winter wear and out they went. i love watching them play. they were outside for hours! i wish i shared their enthusiasm about the snow but it’s not much fun to drive in.

Dana F: Oh how I miss those fluffy flakes! Make a snowman for me, will you? We just have a skiff of snow here! xo d

stacy t: send some to NY - it's bleak here! nothing but bare trees and boring green/brown grass. yuk. but if you send the snow, can you derek come and snowblow our driveway? i make a mean hot chocolate?? haha

Shannon: Derek is so cute, I could just eat him up!! (and to have him as a neighbor wouldn't be so bad either!! lol) What a crazy december this has been! Did you get hit with the freezing rain? oxoxoShannon

is the colour on her walls and i LOVE it!

this is emily’s room at the new house. this room actually glows! i can’t wait until we can move in there and decorate! she’s got some very cool new bed linens for her birthday and they are going to go so well with the wall colour that she’s picked out.

secretly, i almost wish that this was my room. it’s going to be so cool!

twitter :: tyler style

December 10, 2008

i’m sure you’ve all seen my twitter badge, just over there,  on the left.

well, for those who don’t know, twitter is (according to wikipedia) a free social networking and micro-blogging service, that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

i began “twittering” a few months ago. it’s a very cool and useful tool and allows me to not only let you know what i’m up to but it also allows me to network with other photographers and friends ALL AROUND THE WORLD!! oh, how i love the internet!!

as i walked past tyler’s bedroom door yesterday morning, after he’d gone to school, i noticed something  hanging from his door knob. i couldn’t help but chuckle to myself and then i ran and grabbed my camera. how cool is that? tyler is “tweeting” to derek and i via his door knob signs!

he cleverly used both sides of the door hanger so that he was able to make several different ones. some of the other door hangers read “keep out!“, “sleeping“, “gone to the shop” and one of my favorites, “gone to another land“!
