on the eve of twelve

May 21, 2009

tonight was the full dress rehearsal for the dance show, which is this weekend. emily is always super excited about the dance show because it’s the only time that i  allow her to wear make-up…. call me old fashioned.

but this year’s dress rehearsal is extra special! it’s the eve of turning twelve.

tomorrow my baby girl turns twelve and i am overwhelmed when i think of how fast the time has gone by. i know this is so cliche but seriously, it really does seem like it was only yesterday when i was in the hospital, two weeks overdue with NO signs of any labour WHAT-SO-EVER! i can remember thinking that i was going to be the first woman who’d be pregnant forever!! i can also remember how H.U.G.E. my belly was!  the doctors finally decided it was best to do a c-section (after 36 hours of nonproductive induced labour) and my baby girl, the one i had always dreamed about, was finally born!

when we arrived home tonight, we took a few pictures before the sun went down. make-up and all!

i love her smile. i love her freckles. i love the sparkle in her eyes. i love her honesty. i love her soft heart. i love her kind and caring soul. i love her ambition. i love her tenacity. i love that she has big dreams. and i love HER!

happy birthday emily! i hope ALL of your big dreams come true!  xxoo

Kelli: She looks so much older than twelve. Very pretty girl!

Melissa: This is a great memory! when she is older she can see all her faces, she is beautiful!

deb: She is beautiful! Doesn't it go by so quickly?

Amy McMurray: This is a great collage! Great expressions!!

Laurie Terry: You captured 12 perfectly! Love the variety.

natasha: I love the stroyboard.

[...] i am still playing catch-up with some of the photos i took during that month. as i mentioned in this post, steps ahead dance held their annual Performing @ Home and i had the privilege of taking pictures [...]

renata is one of the sweetest young ladies that i have ever met! she is so personable, so cheerful and just so kind!

i first met her a few years ago at steps ahead dance school where she and my daughter both dance. since that time, i’ve had the pleasure to meet and get to know many members of her family, including her cousin andrea & dan.

when i told renata about my RAD GRAD campaign last september, she was so enthusiastic about it and she wanted to be one of my reps. unfortunately, we started just a tad late into the school year but we went ahead and did the session anyway. and what fun we had! i love doing these rad grad sessions!

a few weeks ago, one of my favorite clients contacted me about the possibility of donating a gift certificate for a silent auction that she was helping to organize. of course, i was more than happy to help. it’s a great way for me to promote kp photography, not to mention an opportunity to support two of victoria’s major arts organizations.

on saturday, may 9, 2009, Pacific Opera Victoria and Victoria Symphony are jointly presenting Unforgettable: Victoria’s Gala for Music. This fundraising gala, which benefits both the opera and the symphony, promises to be a long-remembered night of magic, music and mystery!

i am so thrilled to be a part of this amazing event! so, if you have no plans for saturday night, get yourself a ticket to this unfogettable event. and while you’re there, bid on the gift certificates that i have donated.
