my favorite season : fall

October 25, 2009

fall is my favorite season for many reasons. especially october. it’s my birthday month and it’s the month i married my sweetheart. but it’s also one of the most beautiful times of the year. having grown up on the east coast, i really miss the vibrant reds, yellow and oranges of the leaves as they change and fall to the ground. but this year has been different here on the west coast. this year, fall has been especially colourful and vibrant, most likely due to the indian summer that we were so lucky to have experienced.

and i absolutely love it!  this morning the kids and i went out and took a few pictures. we haven’t done this for a long time – mostly because we’ve been so busy – but also due to the fact that they just aren’t “into it” lately. i guess you could say that today was my lucky day – smiling, co-operative kids and fall!

playing the guitar

October 21, 2009

tyler is learning to play the guitar. some days he LOVES it and other days – not so much! but i love to watch him as he reads the music and tries to wrap his little fingers around the neck of the guitar to make the notes he’s learned sound just right.

poor planning

October 20, 2009

we’ve been wanting to plant grass seed for sometime but wanted to wait until the weather to cooled off before we did. well – then we waited too long and so we decided that we would lay sod. so, last week, derek ordered sod. it would arrive on friday and we would start laying it on saturday. perfect!

NOT!! it started raining on thursday night and didn’t stop until sunday. it was so wet! the top soil was so wet that it basically turned into slop – seriously! i could have cried everytime i thought about having almost $1000 worth of sod sitting in our front yard and there was a good chance that it was going to die before we got to place it on the ground.

so, since i couldn’t plant it, i took pictures of it instead.  talk about poor planning!

as mentioned in this post, i had a great time in seattle at the fast track photographer workshop with dane sanders. and the absence of posts lately on this very blogsite are because of it! yes, that’s right, it’s all dane’s fault!!!

well, not literally – just in the sense that he gave us SO much to think about and do. i’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes of the kp photography blogsite to build my business so that it runs better, stronger and more efficiently that it ever has before. it’s hard work being the CEO of a company you know!

but more about my business later. i just wanted to get caught up on posting some images from the workshop. i kept forgetting to take my camera out – a room FULL of photographers and we took hardly any photographs of each other. can you believe that? so here are the few random shots that i got. the last image was taken by rockie lee of the rock photography, vancouver. he’s also one of the organizers for image explorations which is held right here in shawnigan lake every summer. he’s such a great guy and i’m so thrilled that i got to meet him!
