notice any changes….

it’s been in the works for awhile now but i’m finally (almost)  finished  the changes to my blog. i worked on my boudoir blog first. then the new RAD GRAD blog was created. and today it was this blogs turn for  a face lift. new colours, new buttons in the menu bar and a new about me section.

so take a look around and enjoy the new digs.

a few weeks ago, we went to the beach. it was great to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather we were experiencing. the fresh air felt so good! here are a few pictures from our walk. i loved capturing all the textures that were on the beach. i wonder how they’d look on photographs???

i am not a gardner

i am not a gardner – i am a photographer.

last fall, we planted grass – well, truth be told, we laid sod.  i was very skeptical about it’s survival, considering when we rolled it out, it was  in about 5 inches of water – i’m not kidding.  and i’m happy to report that it has survived the winter.

we also planted a few trees throughout the yard. a beautiful ornamental plum tree chosen for the front and it’s in beautiful bloom right now. we bought the trees and then waited so long to actually put them into the ground – i wasn’t sure any of them would survive.  experienced gardeners, we are not! but, like the grass, they have all survived too. i’m sure the exceptionally mild winter we experienced helped lots and for that i’m thankful.

our yard need TONS of work still!  landscaping a new yard is a huge undertaking. but we’re up for the task. luckily, there’s only a week and a half until costco opens up their garden center – i love shopping at their garden center. amazing deals and great baskets, shrubbery and trees – everything we’ll need to help complete the job. if you have any advice, please leave a comment below and share it! i’d love to hear it!

or, better yet,  if you’d like to come by and help, just send me an email and i’ll send you the details! ;)

mt. washington :: spring break

this year, the kids were off for two weeks during spring break. last week they spent some time with grandma and hung out at home but this week, we went up to the mountain to do a little skiing and have some much needed family time together.

mt. washington is having an amazing year with a 580 centimeter (plus) snow base. we haven’t been able to ski for the last couple of years for a variety of reasons so we were determined to go this year – especially with such great conditions.

the weather was miserable when we arrived. raining and snowing and it was super windy. it actually felt like a blizzard at times when the winds blew across the mountain.  the kids wanted to try snowboarding. we put them into a lesson on the first day. they had a great time even though we were all soaked to the bone by the end of the day. we even lost power for about six hours in the evening  but we made the best of it and played crib by candle light.

day two was absolutely incredible! ten new centimeters of snow overnight made for excellent skiing conditions and the sun was shining – spring skiing -  my favorite! i only took my little point and shoot camera along with me as well as my flip. i didn’t take any pictures on the first day – the weather was just too crappy and you couldn’t see more than 3 meters in front of you anyway.
