mounted portraits | feature product

remember when i did the portrait session with lucy? it was a special project for a very special friend and i had a blast working on it. she wanted to present lucy’s portraits ina very special way – something that was different. so i made a few suggestions and worked with my printing vendor and we came up with these 3-D like mounted portraits. the 8×8 flush mounted portraits are raised on a 12×12 plaque, giving them a pseudo- 3-D look.

We made 5 plaques in total – 4 to be hung in a grouping and one will be hung on it’s own. i love working with my clients on special projects like this. i love when we work together with a  creative vision and then see it come to life.

what creative vision would you like to create with me?

beautiful ballerina | victoria portrait photographer

one of the things that i enjoy so much as a photographer is photographing the dancers every year at my daughters dance school.  i capture casual portraits of the dancers throughout the year and produce a slideshow that is played after the intermission during their end of year performance. it’s become a favorite highlight of the show!

every year, i always have a favorite portrait (or two or three or twelve!). this is my favorite from this year.

last week, the dancer in the middle came to my studio and we captured some amazing portraits of her.  she’s a beautiful ballerina!

the lonely tourist

this past week, i spent a few days in our nation’s capitol, ottawa. and although my trip was business related, i did manage to squeeze in a few hours of sight seeing before i left. i gotta say though that i really don’t like traveling alone. it gets awfully lonely! i much prefer to travel with family and friends!

i had never been to ottawa before. it’s a beautiful city and felt so much like home – it reminded me of victoria! so clean and lots of amazing architecture. i loved exploring through the parliament buildings and seeing the war memorial. there’s so much history there. i hope to go back again one day except next time i will bring my family with me. i miss them so much when i travel without them and i don’t enjoy being a lonley tourist.
