caroline and bryce are getting married this weekend in an intimate backyard ceremony and I can hardly wait to photograph it!

i love doing an engagement session with my wedding clients before their ceremony. it is extremely beneficial for everyone involved! it allows us time to get to know each other and work together in a more relaxed environment before the wedding day. for the couple, it’s their chance to let their personalities and love for each other shine through and just have fun in front of the camera without the worry of all the timeline restrictions on their wedding day. as a photographer, it allows me to build a rapport with my clients and i always feel we get the best results when their comfort and trust level with me is established. and it’s a great way to prep for their wedding day.

normally, the engagement session is scheduled at least two months before the wedding day but caroline and bryce live in new zealand, so there wasn’t time until this week. i know how crazy busy the last few days leading up to the wedding day usually are, so i’m so glad they were able to find some time to fit their engagement session in.

last saturday was probably one of the nicest days we’ve had all summer – it was a perfect day for a wedding celebration at olympic view golf course. that’s where carrie and philip exchanged their vows and became husband and wife amongst their family and closest friends. one of my most favorite parts of the entire day was when the cello & violin duet played sweet child o’mine as the bride walked down the isle with her father – loved that! so original!

i love this shot that nicole captured of the groom and groomsmen in the lobby of the hotel while waiting for the limo to arrive.

i’m always so thankful when couples are willing to step away from their wedding celebration for a few minutes to capture some evening portraits. i’m also thankful for my video light which helped me create this portrait for carrie and phil!
