meet the newest member of our family, jake.

he’s a golden doodle and he’s four months old and we’re thrilled to welcome him to our family. we’ve been “dog free” for over nine years but we felt it was time to take the leap. tyler is beyond happy. he’s been wanting a dog for a couple of years now.

iphone collage – vacation edition

at the end of june, my family and i headed off on our summer adventure vacation! we flew to san francisco and from there we drove over 2500 miles! i brought 3 cameras with me (i know… a little over the top) but have only downloaded the pictures to my computer so far. i’ve been playing catch up ever since we returned. i will share more as i can (or maybe not) but for now, here’s a collection from my iphone.

on saturday i had the pleasure of photographing the rozon family. they are celebrating mom & dad’s 50th wedding anniversary!! congratulations!! we managed to brave the wind and avoid the rain at saxe point for some wonderful family portraits.

the lonely tourist

this past week, i spent a few days in our nation’s capitol, ottawa. and although my trip was business related, i did manage to squeeze in a few hours of sight seeing before i left. i gotta say though that i really don’t like traveling alone. it gets awfully lonely! i much prefer to travel with family and friends!

i had never been to ottawa before. it’s a beautiful city and felt so much like home – it reminded me of victoria! so clean and lots of amazing architecture. i loved exploring through the parliament buildings and seeing the war memorial. there’s so much history there. i hope to go back again one day except next time i will bring my family with me. i miss them so much when i travel without them and i don’t enjoy being a lonley tourist.

monni and kyle | duncan engagement

we’d been emailing each other for about a week, keeping a close eye on all the crazy weather. we didn’t want to postponed their engagement session but knew that we might not have a choice. lucky for me, monni and kyle were brave souls and we ventured out on tuesday night at kyle’s family’s place at shawnigan lake. it was raining a bit but it didn’t seem to bother them at all!

when i arrived at their place on the lake, much to my delight, i found them relaxed and enjoying their surroundings. kyle was taking in a little fishing time and monni was looking as beautiful as ever. i love that we were able to incorporate a few of their favorite pastimes into their session!

monni & kyle, thanks for such a fun session! i can’t wait to photograph your wedding in august!

brentwood dancers

last week was a total whirlwind for me. i spent the better part of the last eight days shooting sports teams and performers. not my usual type of work but it was lots of fun! i have lots to blog about so stay tuned. be sure to subscribe to this blog by clicking on the link above – that way you’re sure to never miss a new post!

one of the groups i photographed were the performers at brentwood college school. they were getting ready for their annual dance performance which took place last weekend. congratulations to all the brentwood performers for receiving several prestigious awards this year.

tutus-a-plenty

it’s that time of year again when steps ahead dance is getting ready for their end of year performance. tutus and pretty outfits are in abundance! my daughter has attended this fabulous dance school for 5 years now. the show is always amazing and is usually a sell out for all three performances. i spent the better part of the day on saturday at brentwood college school taking pictures for a slideshow that will be shown between acts one and two during the show. it’s all about candid shots and this year, i am going to even try a little fusion and incorporate some video into it too. lots of fun!

this is one of my favorites from the day – she’s one of my favorite ballerinas, miss C! enjoy!
