no…. seriously!!  it wasn’t in a bad way….you see,  i just finished showing carrie and phil their slideshow premiere from their wedding and i know i’ve done the best job possible when i make the bride cry.

i had such a great time tonight chatting and reminiscing with them about their wedding. it was such an amazing day! i loved hearing about their special memories from the day and especially the story about the wedding crasher who was kind enough to give them a gift of money at the end of the night to say thanks! what a great memory that will make!

and those my friends are just a few of the reasons why i love this job!

Plan for next year: Going to UVic and doing a year in Bachelor of Arts program for general studies. Then possibly going to Australia for a GAP year to teach Volleyball the year after.

Favourite Food: Any pasta!
Best memory of us together: When we go to the cabin in Sooke! We’ll go there till we’re old and grey!

Favourite Movie: Howl’s Moving Castle, the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The 1982 version of The Thing,  and Meet the Robinsons.

Favourite TV Show: House MD, CSI:NY, Pretty much anything, since I don’t actually watch a lot of television.

Favourite Food: WhiteSpot Bagged Macaroni and Cheese, Salads, Rice Crackers, and Jerky

Best high school memory: I’ve had tons! I’ve made a lot of friends over the years, but I think my grade 12 year really capped it for me. I have tons of memories that I would love to share, but I think the one that takes the crown for favourite is kidnapping. Every year our grad girls have an event called Grad Kidnapping. Pretty much what it consists of is the girls going out at 4 in the morning, and dragging their grad dates out of bed, dressing them up in silly outfits, and then parading them around for most of the Cowichan Valley populace to see. This is one of favourite memories because, as a grad class, the girls all worked together to show both school spirit, and excellent scheming skills to the world, and each and every single one of us had an amazing time. (Well, apart from the boys.)

Goals for after graduation: Honestly? I don’t really know what I want to do after graduating from Frances Kelsey this year. I get this question asked at me a lot, and the answer is always so non-committed that I think I’m just going to wing it and make a plan on the spot. Here it goes: I’m planning on taking a year off from school to give myself a break from everything. As much as I love school and learning, its been a long (and ridiculously busy) haul. In the spring of next year, I want to take a couple months off to go volunteer in another part of the world, and hopefully do some good. The rest of the year will be dedicated to earning some money, doing a bit of traveling, and then attending schooling in the fall of 2012. My current choice of schooling would be for taking a few Flight Attendant courses, some Business Courses, a few ESL courses, and then Opairing abroad for a year. After that, my goal is probably going to be to enter into a University for teaching, becoming a school counsellor, or as a social worker.

Favourite Memory with these lovely ladies: We’ve known each other since we were four/five years old, and I honestly can’t imagine them not being a huge part of my life.  So, I have hundreds of memories from every point in my life. My favourite moments so far with them have occurred during our retreats. Every year we go stay in a vacation retreat house out in Sooke. It’s called Craidelonna, and it is probably one of the most beautiful places ever to exist on earth. We goof around, talk about everything under the sun, eat healthily, hot tub, take pictures, spend time on the beach and in the forest, joke around, and spend long nights in a cabin separated from the main part of the house.

if you haven’t – then you need to know that having a photobooth at your wedding reception or social gathering is the best entertainment and so much fun! the photobooth captures the exciting atmosphere of the occasion, creating lifelong memories of one of the best parties of your life! it’s such a blast to be able to look back through the photographs and remember the friendly rivalry between siblings while trying to make the goofiest face or seeing all twelve of your highschool buddies try to fit into a small space for the picture. seeing your friends and relatives enjoying your celebration is priceless!

jake was 4 months old when he came to live with us and over the last 8 months, he has truly become the missing link that our family needed so much. there are days that i feel bad and wonder “why did we ever get a dog?”.  we are such a busy family and sometimes don’t give him the attention he needs or deserves but we always try to make it up to him with a fun trip to the dog park.  he’s such a happy dog and always so excited to be with us.  he loves to torment the cats. he is very smart!  he’s learned to sit, shake-a-paw, lye down, and roll over. he’s working on a new trick but i think it’s going to take some time.

one of the groups i photographed were the performers at brentwood college school. they were getting ready for their annual dance performance which took place last weekend.  congratulations to all the brentwood performers for receiving several prestigious awards this year.
