our new diggs :: part 1

January 29, 2009

i’ve had many request (read: demands :) ) over the last two weeks to share some photos of our new house. and because i always like to keep my blog readers happy, i’m not going to make you wait any longer. but there is one small catch. since we haven’t completely unpacked everything yet, i am only going to share pictures from the spaces that look decent. yes, that means that you’ll just have to keep checking back if you want to see more! :)

(starting in upper left and going clockwise) 1) my most favorite part of my new kitchen… my double wall oven!! 2) the fireplace in the great room 3) kitchen looking into my office… check out all that natural lighting! 4) the great room 5) another angle of the great room with door to back deck 6) front entry way 7) my pantry door.

the colour on the walls is a warm golden yellow, called chablias. i love it! it makes the whole house seem so warm and cozy.

so, once i find a new home for everything, i will share more pictures. cause i’m sure you don’t want to look at pictures that look like this.

yeah, ummm, that’s my new studio space and as you can see, it needs a LOT of work!! :)

stacy t: oh so lovely! and we didn't demand - we just threatened that we might stalk you a bit...but never demand. hehe my fav is the etched panty door! sweet!! love the house K!

kp: thanks stacy! i love my pantry door too! and i don't mind that you stalk me at all!

Michele S: I love it all! It's so warm and inviting!! I love the double oven. I hope to have one of those some day! I'm thinking about all the things I want when we return to the U.S. If I had to choose between Hawaii and a double oven, I'd pick the double oven:D Congrats on the new digs!

lesli streets: holy menudo sista this is a nice casa! lovely. just lovely. such great light!

is the colour on her walls and i LOVE it!

this is emily’s room at the new house. this room actually glows! i can’t wait until we can move in there and decorate! she’s got some very cool new bed linens for her birthday and they are going to go so well with the wall colour that she’s picked out.

progress on the new house

November 11, 2008

my absesce in blogging this past week is mostly because we are beginning the final stretch at the new house. derek and i have spent the better part of this last week shopping for light fixtures, door knobs, dead bolts, tile for the bathroom and laundry room flooring, and finalizing the kitchen cabinets and counter tops.and i tell you, it is E.X.H.A.U.S.T.I.N.G!!! we have yet to pick out carpet.

all the finishing touches are now to happen inside and out. inside, the walls are painted, light fixtures are being installed, doors are being hung, trim is getting installed (have i mentioned yet that i LOVE the interior trim detail!!) and flooring will begin going in this week too. outside, the siding and trim is complete, painting has begun and rock for the front has been picked out.

yes, we’ve been busy! but it’s SO worth it!

cheers,

Christine Bentley: WOW! This looks totally amazing! I am so excited for you and jealous at the same time! XXOO

Kelly: Kathy the house if beautiful. I love the front door and the covered porch! Bet you can't wait to move in and enjoy it.

stacy t: oh kath, the house is just beautiful!! can i move in?? haha

Dana F: so so so excited for you - can we have our reunion at your house? :D

KP: absolutley dana! what a GREAT idea!!!

sneak peek at my peaks

October 28, 2008

{lol! i’m SO funny! i crack myself up!}

things are shaping up nicely at the new house. these are the cedar shingles that i worked so hard staining all weekend long! i had some help from my good friends AJ and michelle! thanks girls! i love you both for helping me out! it would have taken me SO much longer on my own. (i should mention that derek helped too…. for a little…. until i started laughing at how messy he was doing it!) :) i love you too honey! ;)

happy tuesday!

jenny: Ooh. Nice peaks. ;) :D When I saw that AJ was helping you, I thought...whAt?! How did my dad get to BC without me knowing he was going to help the Paton Family? haha (P.S. My dad spells his name A.Jay, so that should have stopped my confusion.)

stacy t: great peek at your peaks. but i think i see you missed a spot on one of the shingles. the last one on the left - two rows down. just kidding...made ya look! can't wait to see more peeks.

the new house @ 18 weeks

October 5, 2008

we were at the new house yesterday, cleaning up and doing a bit of burning. i had just returned from a family session so i had my camera with me and i finally took some new pictures of the progress.

it’s really coming along well! inside, all the rough-in for plumbing, electrical, heating and central vacuum are finished. i believe insulation and drywalling begin this coming week! derek and i picked out all our appliances last week as well as the hardwood for the flooring.

we’re so pleased with the progress! i just LOVE all the windows! :)

i was asked today what colour are we going to paint the inside. i have no idea. do you have any suggestions? i’d love to hear them. what are the “hot” decor colours of today?

Shannon: WhoooWhooooO! Check that baby out! A roof, windows, a front door!! How exciting, Love the progress....can't wait to come over for dinner and eat in your new kitchen!! :)
