i first met kate and jeff back in january of this year. they were both leaders at the the times colonist 10k training clinic that derek and i took part in. kate was part of my group on our very first training day and that’s when we realized we had already connected. you see, liss, my 2010 RAD GRAD rep, is jeff’s daughter! small world! i was beyond thrilled when kate contacted me about photographing their wedding on october 1st… my birthday!

their wedding took place at the beautiful quamichan inn. they celebrated their love and commitment to each other in an intimate, outdoor ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends. it was a perfect day!

congratulations kate & jeff! i wish you many years of joy and happiness!

it was wonderful to see liss again and to finally meet her younger sister megan! you girls looked so stunning! i will hopefully get to work with megan again soon as she is thinking of becoming a RAD GRAD rep this year.

carrie & philip | just married

last saturday was probably one of the nicest days we’ve had all summer – it was a perfect day for a wedding celebration at olympic view golf course. that’s where carrie and philip exchanged their vows and became husband and wife amongst their family and closest friends. one of my most favorite parts of the entire day was when the cello & violin duet played sweet child o’mine as the bride walked down the isle with her father – loved that! so original!

i’d also like to send out a huge thank you to nicole brown for second shooting with me!

i love this shot that nicole captured of the groom and groomsmen in the lobby of the hotel while waiting for the limo to arrive.

i’m always so thankful when couples are willing to step away from their wedding celebration for a few minutes to capture some evening portraits. i’m also thankful for my video light which helped me create this portrait for carrie and phil!

gillian and brandon were married in comox, bc on saturday afternoon amongst their family and closest friends. it was a lovely ceremony held at mulBerryland Guest House! what an amazing place to hold a wedding ceremony. just a few teasers before the big post – there were so many amazing details at this wedding, i don’t want to leave any out!

i first “met” gillian online about a year and a half ago when we started following each other on twitter. she’s a portrait and wedding photographer from comox and she’s getting married to brandon in may. brandon is also her partner/ second shooter in her photography business. i was thrilled when she hired me to be their wedding photographer and i must admit, a little nervous! for me, it’s always a little nerve wracking to photograph another photographer – which is totally silly, i know.

this past sunday, gillian and brandon came to victoria for their engagement session. lucky for us, the weather cooperated long enough for us to finish. i’m looking forward to their wedding in comox – my official first wedding of 2011! and a huge thank you to my wonderful assistant, emily, for holding equipment and umbrellas – even though we didn’t really need them.

the barnard family holds a very special place in my heart. you see, their daughter and my daughter have been best friends for many years. and it’s because of the girls that our families have become friends too. it was such a pleasure to spend friday afternoon with them, capturing their family portraits. we didn’t have to travel very far to find an amazing location – these were taken in the forest in their back yard.

we’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful place! and so lucky to have such wonderful friends!

saturday was a blustery day with dark clouds looming and threatening a big downpour of rain. but that didn’t hinder the fun we had shooting carrie and philip’s engagement session. they’re such a fun couple and so comfortable in front of the camera. they’re getting married next summer but decided to do their engagement session now so they could use the pictures for their save the date cards.

carrie & philip, thank you for allowing me to capture your love through your engagement pictures. i’m really looking forward to your wedding next july!

i love photographing in downtown Victoria – especially at night! i don’t normally post all the images in black and white but i just loved the look of these when i converted them… so, all in black and white it is!

monni and kyle | just married | duncan, bc

this past saturday, shannon and i had the pleasure of photographing monni and kyle’s wedding celebration. it was a perfect day for a wedding. the sun was shining but it wasn’t too hot.

monni and kyle met six years ago while they were attending kwantlen university together. both were there on sport scholarships – he played for the men’s baseball team and she played for the women’s basketball team. their love for sport was what drew them together. they are an active couple and enjoy spending time together and with their families.

we began our day with the bride and her girls at their hotel in chemainus. monni had the most beautiful wedding gown! i loved all the detail in it! their wedding ceremony was held at st. edward’s catholic parish in duncan, bc. for their formals, we went to the groom’s grandfather’s property in maplebay. while talking to his grandfather, i learned that his property was the original site where camp imadene was once located. it’s an amazing location and we were forever grateful that he allowed us to photograph the wedding party there.

congratulations monni and kyle! i wish you many years of joy, love and happiness! enjoy your honeymoon!
