welcome to my new blog!

March 31, 2008

welcome to my new and hopefully improved blog! this is so very exciting for me!
i have been keeping my personal and my business blogs separate but i have been finding it too difficult to keep both of them up to date. so, i decided to merge them together. for my family and friends, you’ll only have to look in one place now to stay up to date. a much better scenario for you all i’m sure! and for my clients, you’ll now get a bigger glimpse into my personal life and hopefully get to know me better! it’s still very much a work-in-progress, so bear with me.

NOTE: the new blog address is www.kpphotography.ca so bookmark it now! :)

now, let me show you around a bit. at the top, you’ll notice several tabs:

‘home’ pretty much self-explanatory, i think.

‘photographer’ will take you to my web site where you can view my portfolio, check out rates and read a little about me and how i got started in photography.

‘wall scrawlz’ will take you to my new e-commerce store for wall words (formerly called home expressions: graffiti for your home) GRAND OPENING will be fall 2008. be sure to check it out! there will be lots of specials and even some freebies! until that time, you can still access home expressions for our limited collection of available wall words.

‘contact’ will provide you with my email address.

‘about’ is just a little blurb about moi! :0 …. when i actually get around to completing it.

‘rss feed’ so you will be notified everytime there’s a new and exciting post!

in the sidebar, you’ll notice a few new links to some of my slideshows. take a peek! the blogroll is a work in progress. if you’d like to be in the list, just leave me a comment with your blog address and i’d be happy to add you.

i think that’s it for now. leave a comment and let me know what you think. i’d LOVE to hear from you! and what’s a post without a picture! happy spring everyone!

a new beginning

March 26, 2008

today was ty’s first day at his new school. he was so cute this morning, patting water onto his head to get rid of the cowlicks in his hair. :) when we told him a few weeks ago that he’d be switching schools, he  asked me if i could be there with him so i took today off. and wouldn’t you know it, this morning, he changed his mind. but i went with him anyway!

his new teacher is wonderful! she’s a go-getter and she has such an awesome rapport with the class. she reviewed ty’s report card and was excited to tell him that since he’s an advanced reader, he’ll be placed with a small group of other kids who are being tested on their comprehension. they need to read instructions and then actually build a volcano! how GREAT is that! they are actually providing challenges for the kids that can handle it! he’s not going to be bored anymore.

to his delight, he already knows a few of the children in the class and so he didn’t waste anytime fitting right in this morning. he’s going to do just fine at his new school!

Heather M: Oh soo good to hear this Kathy...I have been meaning to ask you how this was going for the past week or so and then forgot when we were on HELLO chatting! Wish Tyler the best!

stacy: k....that was just the most awesome blog ever to read today. i was so happy to read he was going to a new school and hopefully, everything will work out for him. i know all your readers were worried about him and his struggle. wishing tyler happy happy days!

AJ: He's so sweet! I knew he'd be brilliant on his first day! He is brilliant! I'm smiling KP cause Jarrett's doing wonderful too! Things are looking up for both of us! Love AJ

mother nature was being very unpredictable this past weekend. on good friday morning, tyler came racing into our bedroom at 7:30am and declared "MOM! DAD! IT"S SNOWING OUT!"

he wasn’t kidding! it looked like a blizzard outside. luckily, it didn’t last too long and it melted fairly fast. it was still coming down a tad but this is all that was left by the time we left for our picnic at 11am.

every year, derek’s family organizes a family (and friends) picnic on good friday at the beach. it’s a wonderful family tradition! and even though mother nature tried to deter our tradition, we had a great time roasting hotdogs, eating donuts, having an easter egg hunt and visiting with family and friends. i didn’t take nearly as many pictures as i should have (i was too busy chatting) but i managed to get a few snapshots.

the unthinkable!

March 26, 2008

yes, i did the unthinkable!

i reformatted my cf card before i downloaded my images! {GASP!} i mentioned in my previous post that i had taken lots of pictures over spring break and easter weekend. i had cf cards lying all over my desk and i thought i had finished downloading them all. so i reformatted every single one and placed them back into my cf card wallet! i am missing the images from tyler’s saturday afternoon soccer game! total bummer! especially because i rarely get to watch him play since his soccer games are at the same time as emily’s dance lessons every saturday. i even tried to recover them from the card with no luck!  another lesson learned.

i am making a point of going to his game this weekend to take more pictures!
